Executive Coaching
A confidential space to think, with someone who has been in the role.
One-to-one coaching for senior leaders, around goals you bring: stepping into a bigger role, a difficult decision, leading a team through change, or a change you want to make in how you lead.
A different kind of sounding board
Senior leaders often reach points where the usual sounding boards are not quite right. Colleagues have a stake in the outcome, and friends, quite rightly, tend to take your side. A confidential space to think, with someone who understands the role, can help. What you bring is up to you; these are some of the things clients have brought.
- Stepping into a bigger role
- A difficult decision
- Adapting to a new context: a new boss, a new structure, a new market
- Leading a team through change
- A dip in confidence
- A change you want to make in how you lead
- …and anything else you want to think through
Built around the goals you bring
-
Step 1
A first conversation
Around 30 minutes, to see whether working together makes sense, before anything is agreed.
-
Step 2
Your goals
You set the goals for the coaching at the start. They can change as the work goes on.
-
Step 3
The sessions
Usually five or six sessions of around 90 minutes, sometimes fewer or more. The coaching adapts to what you need while staying focused on your goals.
-
Step 4
Reviews
A review midway and at the end, to check progress against your goals.
What stays in the room
It depends on who arranges the coaching.
If you arrange the coaching yourself
Everything discussed stays between you and your coach.
If your organisation sponsors it
We agree at the start, between you, your organisation and the coach, what is reported back: progress and engagement, never what is said in the sessions.
Our coaches work to recognised professional codes of ethics, including the Global Code of Ethics for Coaches, Mentors and Supervisors.
Your own answers, worked out with a coach
What you get from coaching depends on what you bring to it, as much as on the coach. With your coach, you work out your own answers and strategies for the goals you set. The coaching is practical: the aim is to move from insight to changes you can see in your day-to-day work.
-
A thinking partner
Someone to think out loud with, who helps you see the question more clearly.
-
A friendly challenger
Questions that test your assumptions, asked on your side.
-
An attentive listener
Full attention on you and what you are working on, for the length of each session.
In their own words
"After more than 25 years in consulting, I went into coaching slightly skeptical about how much it could really add. I was genuinely surprised by the experience. What I valued most was how practical it was. I consistently came away with meaningful insights about behaviours that, in some cases, I had been practicing for decades without really questioning. More importantly, after only a few sessions I could see myself behaving differently and could see the impact of those changes in my day-to-day work. For me, that ability to move from insight to tangible behavioural change is what made the coaching so valuable."
"Luca was engaged to coach a senior leader against a set of clearly defined leadership objectives. What stood out was his ability to balance flexibility and responsiveness with a disciplined focus on outcomes. He adapted the coaching journey to the individual's needs while consistently working towards the agreed goals and maintaining appropriate visibility on the progress."
"Good questions made the answers seem obvious, and often I found I already had them. What I valued was that it was not only theoretical but pragmatic."
Direct contact with former clients is available on request. We tell them who is asking, and put you in touch if they agree.
From people who have held the role
Executive coaching at Winnocks comes from people who have held senior executive and board roles themselves. They understand the context a leader works in, and the tensions that come with the role.
Winnocks also coaches leadership teams, and works with them on strategy. Individuals, teams and strategy are three parts of the same mix that makes an organisation succeed or fail, so the coaching comes with a view of the whole system a leader works in: the team around them, the organisation's direction, and the pressures between the two.
